A typescript case report for a phrenological reading of the character and mental development of Roscoe Peacock, Circulation Manager of the Curtis Publishing Company; his printed calling card is laid in. It is dated 16 September 1898 in head of the text, but August 1898 in manuscript on the cover. Portions of the report are underlined, and some handwritten comments appear above the text or in the margins. "You have a keen desire to inquire into Metaphysics and Mathematics" is annotated, "Oh, oh!"; "You want to take everything into account, and it is difficult for you to decide on the spur of the moment just what you want to do" has the response, "Bunk!" the reader's name, J.A. Fowler, is added on the cover by hand, above the printed name, "Nelson Sizer". Bound in illustrated printed wrappers, secured at top by two clasps. Inner upper wrapper contains "Principles of phrenology" text; lower wrapper advertises the proprietor's "character from photographs" service. Wrappers are very brittle and deteriorating.
